unmatched experience

Our history provides experience

Trucking has been a way of life for the Scannavino family since 1945 when Al Scannavino purchased his first truck. Agricultural commodities were the backbone of the business typifying most carriers located in Stockton, in the heart of California’s Central Valley. Through hard work and perseverance, the business expanded to a fleet of more than fifty trucks by the early 1970’s.  Currently, they have more than 300 trucks, including dry freight, wine tanks, compartment wine tanks, food grade liquid tanks and sugar pneumatics, to name a few.

In 1966, Gary Scannavino started Cherokee Freight Lines.  Although Cherokee’s early roots were in transporting winery-related products, it has grown over the years to become a diversified carrier of food-grade commodities serving some of the largest companies in the nation.

Gary Scannavino built Cherokee Freight Lines into a solid company with a reputation for superior service at competitive rates and an enviable record of on-time deliveries.  He took great pride in adapting transportation service to the demands of our customers.  With stability in management and flexibility to meet the formidable challenges of the industry, Cherokee has maintained successful long-term relationships with customers that can be measured over decades.

It is now in its 4th generation of the Scannavino Family, Cherokee Freight Lines is a family owned and operated trucking business led by Leanne Scannavino.  This company has been built on hard work, dedication, and an eye toward the future. They have embraced green technology whenever possible including new trucks with emission friendly engines.  Their entire fleet is equipped with the latest technology, resulting in Cherokee having one of the best safety records in the industry.
